‘Home Alone’ Takes Top Spot
“Home Alone” was a very popular movie when it first came out 34 years ago, and it has parlayed its success at movie theaters into becoming an all-time family classic. Even though Macaulay Culkin is now 44, it’s hard not to picture him as the 8-year-old stranded at home while the rest of his family goes overseas to celebrate Christmas in Paris
Thanks to streaming services, you no longer need to set your schedule to when a television network broadcasts it. The movie, along with its first sequel “Home Alone 2” (we won’t discuss the other Home Alone movies here), is available to watch anytime on Disney+.
If there’s one Christmas movie that Gen X’ers enjoy, it’s “A Christmas Story.” The 1983 film starring Peter Billingsley playing Ralphie Parker, a 9-year-old in the 1940s who only wants a Red Ryder BB gun. It’s filled with hilarious scenes involving a lamp, a secret decoder ring, changing a tire, and a Christmas meal that goes awry.
This year, as in years past, TBS plans to show “A Christmas Story” on repeat over 24 hours between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. You’ll have plenty of chances to watch it before wrapping up the night by watching the Denver Nuggets face the Phoenix Suns to cap off the NBA’s five-game showcase on Dec. 25.
While some people prefer the Boris Karloff-narrated version of “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” an animated TV classic, there are still plenty of people who also enjoy the live-action version starring Jim Carrey. While the film will run on cable channel FX this month, it will also be available to stream later this month on Peacock.
