With a population of more than 5.7 million people stretched from the Plains in the east towards the majestic Rocky Mountains and Western Slope to the west, it’s fair to forget certain parts of the Centennial State.
That’s exactly what’s happened, too, it appears, as Coloradans have a bit of an issue remembering certain cities in the state, with Denver suburbs like Thornton and Westminster being the prime examples of that statewide city amnesia.
BetColorado.com - your best source for Colorado sports betting - wondered which big Colorado cities tend to be forgotten the most. A quiz on Sporcle.com asked respondents to fill in the blanks for the top 10 most populous cities in Colorado. We then ranked the cities based on the percentage of people who remembered them within the quiz’s time limit.

Which CO Cities Are Forgotten The Most?
The No. 1 city in Colorado when it comes to being forgotten the easiest is Thornton, with the city that’s stretched across Adams and Weld counties scoring 37.1% in total, beating out Westminster (38.1%) and the home of the University of Northern Colorado (Greeley, at 43.5%).
Throw in more Denver suburbs in Arvada (44.1%) and Lakewood (46.1%) and you have the upper half of Colorado’s most forgotten cities list covered, while Pueblo (63.3%), Fort Collins (69.0%), Aurora (78.2%), Colorado Springs (90.3%) and Denver (99.4%) round out the Centennial State collective for 2025.
At the end of the day, though, no city in the Rocky Mountain State was easier to forget than the city of more than 140,000 people, with Thornton taking home top honors in its obscurity among Colorado cities this year.
