A year after one of the MLS original clubs emerged as the leagueās champion, itās worth wondering whether another longstanding team can shake off its own championship drought, with the Colorado Rapids looking for that second MLS Cup in 2025.
If they can do so, the Centennial Stateās lone MLS club will capture the championship cup for the first time in 15 years, dating back to when the Rapids came from being the fifth seed in the sportās postseason to win it all, though those days are far gone in Commerce City.
Thatās because the Rapids have missed out on the MLS postseason in the last two seasons, finishing 14th overall in 2024 and posting a -28 goal differential along the way, going 5-17-12 in total. However, the franchise is back with a young roster in 2025.
With around a month until the 2025 season starts, BetColorado.com took a break from Colorado sports betting coverage and was curious which teams are projected to have the youngest rosters in the MLS. Using the current rosters, we calculated the average age for each team and ranked the top 10 youngest teams.

Where Rapids Stand in the MLS
Of the 30 teams that are in todayās expanded MLS sphere, the Rapidsā average age score of 24.21 points ranked sixth overall, sandwiched between No. 5 CF Montreal (23.75 total score) and the No. 7 Houston Dynamo FC (24.74 points), but well behind the leagueās youngest squads.
Thatās because franchises like Real Salt Lake (22.81 total score), New York Red Bulls (22.89 total score) and New York City FC (23.34 total score) were the leaders in the MLS when it came to being the youngest rosters in the league, with FC Dallas (23.39 points) and CF Montreal ranking in spots four and five leaguewide.
For now, the Rapids ready themselves for the MLS regular season as one of the leagueās longest of longshots to win the 2025 MLS Cup, with oddsmakers from DraftKings Sportsbook Colorado listing the club at +5000 to win the title this season, ranking alongside Charlotte FC and Nashville SC and ahead of cellar dwellers like Austin FC, DC United, FC Dallas, Toronto FC and St. Louis City SC (+6500 apiece), along with Sporting Kansas City and New England Revolution, who round out the league at +8000 each.
