With the dawn of 2025 around the corner, it’s high time for Americans from sea to shining sea to break out their share of resolutions for the new year, with most of them centered around ways to improve oneself as the calendar flips over.
In states like Colorado, we can glean a lot about what types of resolutions Centennial State residents are shooting for based on the digital tea leaves known as search interest scores, with common themes such as saving money, traveling, learning and reading more joining timeless edicts like losing weight this year.
Heading into the last month of the year, people are thinking about what they accomplished in 2024 and what they want to achieve in 2025. At BetColorado.com, we broke from our typical Colorado sports betting coverage and used Google Trends to find and rank the top five most common New Year’s resolutions for Colorado residents. The search was conducted between December 1, 2023 – January 2, 2024. The ranking is based on search interest score.

Of those three, traveling more beat out learning more by five search interest points, with the former finishing at 82 points while the latter wound up at 77 points, finishing ahead of reading more (74 search interest score) and losing weight (71 search interest score).
