With spring fully on the doorstep — even as the state digs out from a record blizzard — there’s never been a better time to get outside and crack a cold one.
In Colorado, it seems the state’s synonymous brewing company (Molson Coors) is no longer the golden standard, with Coors Light ranking No. 2 statewide behind Mexico’s Modelo Especial.
With National Beer Day fast approaching April 7, BetColorado.com wanted to know what beers have the highest brand awareness in the Centennial State. Utilizing Google Trends, BetColorado.com took a break from Colorado sports betting and ranked the search volume interest scores in Colorado from the top 10 American beer brands according to a recent survey from Statista. Modelo Pushes out Coors in Colorado
Colorado’s go-to beer it appears is Modelo Especial, with a search interest score of 40, which nearly tripled No. 2 Coors Light (14 search interest score) and dwarfed the next three — Bud Light (12 search interest score), Corona (9 search interest score) and Budweiser (8 search interest score).
Of the five, Bud Light and Budweiser are brewed by Anheuser Busch, which is the wholly owned St. Louis based subsidiary of AB InBev, which is based in Leuven, Belgium. Modelo Especial is owned by Constellation Brands in the U.S.. It surpassed Bud Light as the top selling beer in America in 2023.
Regardless of which style of beer is your go-to, it seems certain millions of Colorado residents will go to their fridge and pull out their suds of choice come April 7, in honor of America’s ever-growing love affair with the bubbly beverage.
