A lost decade for baseball in the Centennial State dove to newfound depths in 2024, when the ruder-less Colorado Rockies posted their second straight 100-loss campaign, going 61-101 in the ultra-competitive NL West and finishing with the clubâs second-worst winning percentage (.377) in club history.
This year, things arenât looking much rosier for Colorado, with the franchise entering Spring Training with a preseason win total over/under of 58.5 on DraftKings Colorado Sportsbook, illustrating that the floor is the ceiling for the Rockies in 2025.
BetColorado.com utilized Fangraphs.com to gather the 2025 salary information and projected 2025 WAR. Once acquiring that information, we divided the salary by the playerâs projected WAR to determine the playersâ potential value.
Most Undervalued Colorado Rockies on 2025 Roster
Player | 2025 Salary | 2025 Projected WAR | Value (Salary Per WAR) * |
Brenton Doyle (Outfielder) | $800,000 | 2.9 | $275,862 |
Nolan Jones (Outfielder) | $800,000 | 1.5 | $533,333 |
Ryan Feltner (Pitcher) | $2,275,000 | 1.8 | $1,263,889 |
Note: Some playersâ salaries are represented by their salary before arbitration. Only players projected on the Opening Day 40-Man Roster were included.
Which Rockies Are The Most Undervalued?
Of the 26 men thatâll make the Rockiesâ Opening Day roster, the three that weâre expecting to provide the most bang for their buck are outfielders Brenton Doyle and Nolan Jones along with pitcher Ryan Felner, who have preseason WAR projections that range from 1.5 (Jones) to 2.9 (Doyle).
Of the three, only Feltner is making more than the league minimum this season, at $2.275 million, which averages out to $1,263,889 in terms of salary per WAR, ranking third on the club behind Doyle (2.9 WAR projection/$275,862 salary per WAR) and Jones (1.5 WAR/$533,333 salary per WAR).
All three are expected to play key roles in Coloradoâs slow-rolling rebuild, with Doyle and Jones serving as centerpieces in the Rockiesâ lineup while Feltner anchors the clubâs rotation inside the bandbox known as Coors Field this MLB season.
