On the journey to win the Stanley Cup, a team must string successful months together during the regular season, not only to make the NHL Playoffs but to line itself up for a good seed once it gets in to have a shot.
With that in mind and with the third month of the NHL season coming up Friday, BetColorado.com utilized ChamporChumps.us to find the records of every NHL team in December from the 2019-20 season to the 2022-23 season. The red-hot and 2022 Staney Cup champion Colorado Avalanche (15-6, 30 points), currently first in the Western Conference’s Central Division, have finished within the top 12 over the last three seasons and are one of 13 teams to have 20 or more victories. Colorado (20-15-3, .526) ranks 12th on the list among December triumphs, just one behind the New York Rangers (21-15-3, .538).
For contrast, the Carolina Hurricanes have compiled the best record in December (27-8, .771), followed by Pittsburgh (25-8, .758), Tampa Bay (28-10-1, .718), Washington (25-12-1, .658) and Toronto (21-10-1, .656). The Avalanche Stanley Cup odds are extremely favorable as they shoot for their second championship in the last three years and fourth overall.
