Next NFL QB Benched: Odds For Which Starter Will Get Benched

Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

Through six full weeks of the NFL regular season, it’s becoming increasingly clear which starting quarterbacks are here for the long while and which are bound to ride the pine sooner rather than later.

On the plus side, we have NFL QBR leaders like Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and his league leading figure of 79.3, while Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals is second at 75.1, despite the team’s rocky start to the year.

Conversely, while we haven’t seen the NFL QB ranked dead last in QBR (Deshaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns at 21.7) get benched yet (officially), his likely sacking illustrates how fast things can change across the 32-team league.

BetColorado.com used its Colorado sports betting mindset and broke down the odds on which NFL quarterback will join Watson in riding the pine, with the leader in the clubhouse looking likely to get replaced by a former Denver Broncos starter under center.

Which NFL QB Will Get Benched Next?

Entering Week 7, it looks like first-year Pittsburgh Steelers QB Justin Fields is the dominating favorite to be the next QB benched, thanks in large part to ranking 20th in the league in QBR (54.0) and losing two of three (despite routing the Las Vegas Raiders, 32-13, on Sunday).

Much of the reason why Fields ranks so highly is because of the imminent return of future Hall of Famer Russell Wilson, who is back in practice after suffering an injury during training camp.

Tomlin said this week that Wilson and Fields will work it out at practice this week, with a decision on which player will take reps as QB1 being made “closer to game time,” per ESPN.

Other contenders to get benched next include Tennessee Titans starting QB and mayonnaise enthusiast Will Levis (+600) and Watson (+900), while Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts (+1750), Daniel Jones of the New York Giants and Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars (+3500 each) round out this week’s list.

For now, all of them are a distant second to the former No. 11 overall pick out of Ohio State, as Fields looks like the odd man out in the Steel City, with Wilson looking likely to take his job as soon as this weekend.
