Now that the NFL season has come and gone, itās high time to turn our attention forward towards the 2025 NFL Draft, with two local college players that are sure to hear their names called early in the festivities, in Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders of Colorado. At BetColorado.com, our Colorado sports betting experts developed odds projecting what NFL team will draft the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

Perhaps the bigger āwhereā for Hunter isnāt the city heāll call his next football home, but rather the position heāll play the most on Sundays. NFL coaches and front office executives believe the unanimous All-American can excel at either wide receiver or cornerback. At WR in 2024, Hunter led the Big 12 with 96 receptions and 15 touchdown receptions, finishing fifth nationally with 1,258 receiving yards. As a corner, he was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year after finishing second with 11 passes defended and third with four interceptions.
Most in the NFL peg Hunter as a shutdown corner, like Denver Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II, who won the leagueās Defensive Player of the Year Award last week. There are far fewer shutdown corners in the NFL than elite-level receivers, so Hunter would be more valuable lining up against the likes of JaāMarr Chase and Justin Jefferson.
Still, Hunter should also get his chance on offense regardless of the team that picks him. However, most teams would likely limit his role on offense in hopes of keeping him fresher and healthy enough to play a 17-game NFL season.
Right now, our top landing spot for Hunterās services at wideout and cornerback is the Cleveland Browns, who hold the second pick in Aprilās NFL Draft and have a whole lot of needs across the teamās 22-man starting lineup on both sides of the ball.
Overall, we have the AFC North club at -350 to pick Hunter, while the New York Giants (+400) are the other NFL team to make our list for the former CU star.
The Giants would make sense after signing two veteran quarterbacks in recent weeks. With Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston set to battle out for the starting job, using the No. 3 pick on another quarterback seems unlikely - especially with Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders likely off the board.
In fact, we could still see Sanders going to the Browns at No. 2 over Hunter - barring an unexpected development. Unlike the Giants, the Browns have largely sat out on the quarterback market this season. While they did acquire Kenny Pickett and bring back Joe Flacco, they and Deshaun Watson are not viewed as the long-term answer in Cleveland. However, in recent days the Browns brass seem ready to call an audible and go for Hunter at No. 2.
What we know for sure right now is that the only player to ever win the Chuck Bednarik and Fred Biletnikoff awards is off to the professional ranks, with Hunter looking to take his talents to a lucky team in the hours of the 2025 NFL Draft on April 24.
