Beetlejuice is #1 on Colorado's Top Halloween Costumes for 2024
The return of Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice in the hit sequel to the beloved 1988 dark-comedy Beetlejuice has clearly made an impression on Coloradans. Although Keaton is truly great in his role as the chaotic “bio-exorcist,” there’s no question that the character’s costuming and make-up are a huge part of what made Beetlejuice an iconic pop culture figure. In fact, Beetlejuice won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling at the 1989 Oscars.
The Pirate is expected to be another popular Halloween costume in Colorado this year. Although pirates have existed for thousands of years — and continue to raid and pillage unsuspecting ships on the open waters to this day — the bandanas, eyepatches, earrings, and other common tropes we typically associate with the Pirate’s attire mostly originate from the so-called “Golden Age of Piracy” between the mid-17th and early-18th centuries, when figures like Blackbird and Captain Kidd roamed the Atlantic.
Number three on our list of the most popular Halloween costumes of 2024 is Deadpool. Originally introduced as a villain in Marvel comic’s The New Mutants, Deadpool quickly became a cult favorite amongst superhero fans for his witty and irreverent inner monologue. Most recently, Deadpool was seen on the big screen alongside the inspiration for the tenth most popular costume costume on our list, Wolverine. The highly anticipated team up film Deadpool & Wolverine has grossed over $1.3 billion dollars worldwide.
Two more comic book characters also made our list, with Batman projected to be Colorado’s fifth most popular Halloween costume in 2024, and everybody’s favorite teenaged web-slinger Spider-Man at number seven.
Some other Halloween costumes we expect to be among Colorado’s favorites in 2024 include the Clown (4), Princess (6), Ghost (8), and Witch (9). Along with the Pirate costume, these are all timeless choices embodying the spirit of the Halloween season.
