Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

  • 👀 It's Year 2 of the Coach Prime experiment in Colorado, with heightened expectations.
  • 📈 Returning two-way star Travis Hunter is the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.
  • 🏈 Hunter faces stiff competition from many other established stars across college football.

One of the nation’s few two-way stars has made a name for himself in Boulder, with Colorado Buffaloes’ junior cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter cementing his status as a commanding Heisman Trophy favorite in 2024.

Through 10 games, Hunter has hauled in 74 catches for 911 yards and nine touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball for ‘Coach Prime,’ while making 24 tackles, eight pass deflections and three interceptions on defense for the 8-2 Buffs’.

This weekend, Hunter and the 8-2 Buffaloes are listed as -142 visiting favorites to beat the 4-6 Kansas Jayhawks at Arrowhead Stadium on DraftKings Sportsbook Colorado, with CU listed as a 2.5-point favorite, spread wise, in the matinee in Kansas City.

All year long, BetColorado.com will update Hunter’s Heisman Trophy odds across a number of Colorado sportsbooks, with this week’s update reflecting the wide open race to win the sport’s top individual honor in 2024.

Where Hunter Stands in 2024

Across Colorado’s seven leading sportsbooks, Hunter’s Heisman odds range from -330 on FanDuel Colorado Sportsbook to -400 on BetMGM and ESPN BET, with BetRivers (-335), Bet365 and DraftKings Sportsbook (-350 each) and Caesars Sportsbook (-380) ranking between them.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, for instance, Hunter ranks well ahead of the next closest Heisman Trophy contender, with the CU junior sitting at -350 while Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty is listed at +380 and Cam Ward of Miami is a distant third overall, at +1300.

Hunter can help cement his status as a Heisman lock by taking care of business in Kansas City against the Jayhawks before closing out the year at home against a 3-7 Oklahoma State team on Nov. 29, with the team at ESPN Analytics giving CU a 54.5% shot at beating KU, with an 82.9% shot at taking care of business against the Cowboys in the team’s regular-season finale.

For now, the junior out of Georgia is at the front of the pack when it comes to Heisman Trophy odds, speaking to the incredible play he’s put forth on both sides of the ball in 2024.
