Colorado’s Favorite Harry Potter Movies

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

As big Harry Potter fans know, our young wizard's birthday was July 31. In honor of that upcoming date, BetColorado.com analyzed the most popular Harry Potter movies of Colorado residents by looking at the Google Trends search results of each movie over the past year (July 18, 2023-July 18, 2024).

As fans of the series know all too well, there's a case to be made for each entry in the franchise. "The Sorcerer's Stone" is where it all started, successfully bringing J.K. Rowling's world to life and introducing us all to Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. "The Chamber of Secrets" gave us the flying car, and a deeper appreciation of the history between Rubeus Hagrid and Tom Riddle.

"The Prisoner of Azkaban" proved the franchise didn't need Lord Voldemort making an appearance in every entry, and gave us Professor Lupin (and werewolves) to boot.

"The Goblet of Fire" expanded Rowling's Wizarding World well beyond Hogwarts (but broke our hearts at the end with Voldemort's return). Finally, "The Order of the Phoenix," "Half-Blood Prince" and both "Deathly Hallows" films wrapped up the series in a non-stop adrenaline ride, all while also standing on their own as excellent movies.

BetColorado typically sticks to stories around Colorado betting apps, but even we can make an exception for Harry Potter.

Which Film Takes The Crown?

Interestingly enough, Colorado residents seem to have a real preference for the first effort in the entire series, as "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" easily topped our rankings by a wide margin.

This shouldn't be a total surprise, but it does signal a massive amount of positive sentiment for each individual's entry point to Rowling's world.

Another reason we believe the first film easily outpaced the others? There's an entire new generation of parents out there getting their children into Harry Potter, the ultimate compliment to Rowling and the talented filmmakers who brought the Wizarding World to life.
