Travis Hunter Heisman Odds: Can Colorado Two-Way Star Win The Heisman Trophy?

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

  • 👀It's Year 2 of the Coach Prime experiment in Colorado, with heightened expectations.
  • 📈Returning two-way star Travis Hunter could well get into the Heisman Trophy mix.
  • 🏈But Hunter faces stiff competition from many other established stars across college football.

Few college football players across Colorado betting apps have the type of meteoric talent on both sides of the ball that Buffaloes junior Travis Hunter does, with the former five-star recruit excelling at wide receiver and cornerback in his first season in Boulder last fall.

In nine games a season ago, Hunter finished with 721 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns offensively, to go with 30 tackles, three interceptions and two tackles for loss on the defensive side of the ball.

Now, the third-year star is back in Boulder for Year Two of the Coach Prime era at CU, with oddsmakers from some of Colorado’s marquee sportsbooks placing lofty odds on the junior to be the second Buff to win the award, after Rashaan Salaam in 1994.

With that in mind, BetColorado.com broke down the latest odds across multiple Colorado sportsbooks for Hunter’s Heisman chances to see where the junior ranks nationally at the moment.

Where Hunter Stands in 2024

Right now, Hunter’s best Heisman odds come from BetMGM Colorado, which gives him a 2.8% (or +3500) chance of becoming the second CU player to win the sport’s top award and the second defensive player to ever win the accolade, after Charles Woodson of Michigan.

After BetMGM, you’ll find Hunter’s top odds on RSI/BetRivers, which has him listed at +6000 (or 1.6%), FanDuel Sportsbook (+6500/1.5%), Bet365 and Caesars Sportsbook (+8000 each, or 1.2%).

While none of the six have Hunter very high on their respective Heisman odds boards right now, there’s no denying that the hype machine is on full blast for the former Jackson State star in the run-up to the 2024 college football season.

Now, the task for Hunter and his teammates is to get CU back to respectability after six straight losing seasons (in non-COVID years), beginning with CU’s non-conference clashes against North Dakota State at home on Aug. 29, followed by road games against Nebraska (Sept. 7) and Colorado State University (Sept. 14).
